    WHAT Can You Donate?

    Frequently Asked Questions:

What are Light the World Giving Machines?
Vending machines where donating to charity is as easy as buying a candy bar.

    How do they work?
Insert payment, select an item and a card representing your gift drops into a bin so you can watch the donations
pile up. The machines keep a running total of all purchases made.

    How can I pay?
Credit card or mobile pay – just like a regular vending machine. (Sorry, no cash.)

    Where are the machines?
A bank of three machines will be at Writer Square at 16th and Lawrence in downtown Denver.

    When are they open?
Every day from Nov. 26, 2019, through New Year’s Day, 2020. Volunteers will be there to assist you from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

What charities can I donate to at a Giving Machine?
    Four local charities:
Black Child Development Institute – Denver focusing on education, health and literacy
Catholic Charities of Denver providing valuable family support services
Mile High Ministries serving families transitioning out of homelessness
Rose Andom Center assisting domestic violence victims
    Two international charities:
Water for People supplying safe water and sanitation for 4 million people in 9 countries
CWS Global feeding the hungry and assisting the vulnerable around the world

    What can I give?
You can select from 30 different items ranging from meals to books to transportation to bedding. You can even
give piglets! Each charity has specified items they need the most.

    How much can I donate?
Items range from less than $5 to $300.

Why donate at a Giving Machine instead of some other way?

    • At a Light the World Giving Machine, all of your donation – 100% – reaches the people served. Costs for the machines and credit card fees plus the charities’ overhead for your item are covered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
    • You and your family and friends get to actually see and choose what to give.
    • It’s fun to go downtown during the holidays!

    Is my donation tax-deductible?
Donations are eligible for tax deductions. Receipts will be available by text or email.
