Meet the Charities in the Denver Giving Machines

Charities in 2023 Giving Machines connect asylum seekers to new communities, shelter chronically unhoused women, teach folks with Down Syndrome how to cook or dance, change lives and careers with job certifications, send local kids to the mountains for the first time, provide livestock for food and economic growth and help emergency responders deliver needed supplies.

Colorado Hosting Asylum Network (CHAN)

CHAN is almost entirely volunteer-run and aids asylum seekers fleeing physical and political persecution. CHAN connects their clients with community members to create personal relationships and obtain material resources on their path to assimilating into their new life.

The Delores Project assists around 450 women a year with both emergency housing and supportive housing for disabled women previously chronically unhoused. Through offering shelter, housing and supportive services, The Delores Project helps women overcome their challenges to gain independence and self-reliance.

Global Down Syndrome Foundation supports other Down Syndrome foundations worldwide through networking and research sharing, but within the Denver area they offer classes and training for people with Down Syndrome such as a ballet or football camp for children, fitness classes for adults, skills/job training, etc.

The Salvation Army Intermountain Division

The Salvation Army Intermountain Division is mostly known for helping with food insecurity and transitional housing. The Salvation Army also helps with addiction recovery, skills training and children’s programming.

Volunteers of America – Camp POSTCARD

Camp POSTCARD is a program through Volunteers of America, providing disadvantaged children from the Denver/Aurora metro area with a first-time mountain summer camp experience. It focuses on providing safe, positive interactions between youth and first responders who serve as camp counselors.

Church World Service

Church World Service has a vision where everyone has food, a voice and a safe place to call home. Initially their mission was to provide food to the hungry and help those in need. Today they also provide shelter and services for asylum seekers and refugees worldwide and coordinate emergency disaster relief efforts.

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.​ Their core services provide shelter and support amid disasters, emergency responders able to save lives, lifesaving blood and blood products, emergency preparedness, and support for armed service members and their families.
